Game Watch interview reveals more about the Sengoku updates

The MapleStory Japan official twitter just tweeted a link to an interview with more Sengoku update information, as well as some new Kanna screen shots we haven’t seen yet. I don’t think I will be doing a full translation of this interview this time, since the patch is later today. Instead, I will post a summary, like the last time.

You can find the original interview here : http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/interview/20120710_544967.html

  • There are different development teams dedicated to each version of MapleStory, it seems.
  • The new Japan-original area will consist of one town map and several field maps dedicated to low level mobs. (Perhaps these are what you will start off killing as a Hayato or Kanna)
  • The “Great Battle of Sengoku” system’s level range is dynamic, like party quests, so the status of monsters will reflect your own character’s level. Unlike party quests, however, it will be an instanced dungeon system, so each party will have their own map.
  • The target level range for “The Great Battle of Sengoku” system is levels 40 ~ 200.
  • Mori Ranmaru will appear as a boss in the “Ranmaru Expedition.” Oda Nobunaga is the main villain of the Sengoku content, but Ranmaru is Nobunaga’s comrade boss, whom you have to take down. The Ranmaru Expedition will be implemented in the third update.
  • Akechi Mitsuhide and Mori Ranmaru are the rival characters of Hayato and Kanna. Mori Ranmaru wasn’t a villain in real world history, but he is in the MapleStory Sengoku Era content.
  • Akechi Mitsuhide and Oda Nobunaga will not be appearing this summer as bosses. However, they are considering having Akechi Mitsuhide and some of Oda Nobunaga’s underlings appear later on. I guess this means Sengoku will not end in 3 updates.
  • They do not have a clear schedule when Akechi Mitsuhide, Oda Nobunaga, or any of the other military commanders will appear in the game, but they want to release the Hayato and Kanna class and get opinions before they proceed any further.
  • Hayato and Kanna will also have character cards to be put in a deck. There’s no mention as to what their card effects will be.
  • There will be promotional events to persuade players to level up their Hayato and Kanna.
  • The reason they wanted to create original classes for JapanMS was because they gave Japan an original Dual Blade and Evan story line, but the classes themselves weren’t Japan-original.

“The reason they wanted to create original classes for JapanMS was because they gave Japan an original Dual Blade and Evan story line, but the classes themselves weren’t Japan-original.”

They get … original storylines … AND original classes? And it’s all exclusive … never to be translated into a language I can understand … I just … I can’t … that they can get away with this … these feels … THESE FEELS!

Feels bad, man. Is there some way for us to, like, clone the JMS team, and have the clones work on GMS? Because I’m thoroughly dissatisfied with Nexon America and the GMS team.

Omg. Kanna’s butterfly skill. I hope that skill can do poison or hypnosis. Unless, it’s a shield. :<

I like how they’re using figures from the Sengoku era. I wonder if they’ll introduce Tokugawa Ieyasu and his men (Hattori Hanzo and Honda Tadakatsu).

SO much better than the stuff GMS gets. >.>
