[JMST] Rebirth System

メイプルストーリー 「転生 システム」

As of 5/16/2011, Nexon Japan has opened an open-to-all test server with a “reincarnation” system. Here’s pretty much how it works :

When you reach your desired level at which you want to rebirth (level 120 is minimum), you can buy an item from the cash shop called the “Holy Stamp of Rebirth.” This item, in JMST, costs 1,000 Nexon Points, which is roughly $13 USD. When you buy that item, you then need go to your first job instructor. For instance, if you’re an Adventurer Warrior, you must go to Dances with Balrog in Perion to rebirth. Once you talk to your job instructor and select the option to rebirth, you then are warped to this empty white map with nothing but a portal and a familiar NPC — Aasia from Kamuna, Jipangu. Once there, you need to take off all of your equipment except any equipment that doesn’t have a class requirement or a level requirement. You then need to talk to Aasia and begin the process. Aasia gives you a class list to choose from, depending on your class branch (Adventurer or Cygnus). Note that only Cygnus classes and Adventurer classes can make use of this system. Dual Blades, however, are excluded from this and they can take no part in this system.

When you complete your conversation with Aasia, you see the same cinematic you get when you first make a regular Adventurer character, then you’re taken to your selected class’ job room (for instance, if you chose Archer, you get warped to the map where Athena Pierce is). Your AP is completely reset, but you keep all of your previous job’s skills, HP and MP. You can use all of these skills, except some of the passive skills (like Dark Knight’s Dark Force skill), as long as you have the proper weapon to use those skills with. Unfortunately, even though you have multiple skill trees available to you at once, you cannot wear your previous job’s equipment, unless you chose the same core class (for instance, you were a Dark Knight and you chose to rebirth into a Warrior again).

Requirements :
-Level 120 or higher
-Holy Stamp of Rebirth

What happens :
-HP and MP values are saved
-All obtained skills are saved
-All AP is wiped. You start over at level 10 with 4 in all stats and 54 AP free.
-All quests are refreshed — You will have to/can do all quests all over again.
-Your friends and guild lists are kept, as well as family.

Also :
-Cygnus can only rebirth into a Cygnus
-Adventurers can only rebirth into an Adventurer
-Dual Blades cannot rebirth
-Arans and Evan cannot rebirth
-Battle Mages, Wild Hunders and Mechanics cannot rebirth.
-You cannot go from Cygnus to Adventurer.
-You cannot go from Adventurer to Cygnus.
-You cannot rebirth into a Dual Blade.
-You cannot rebirth into an Aran or Evan.
-You cannot rebirth into a Battle Mage, Wild Hunter or Mechanic.
-You cannot wear your equipment from your pre-Rebirth class if you choose a different class (for instance, if you go Warrior to Thief, you cannot wear your warrior equipment after you rebirth)
-Most skills have weapon requirements, meaning if you choose a different class when you rebirth, you cannot use most of your skills.
-You cannot change back to your previous class if you rebirth.
-Rebirth is available only one time per character.

Still confused? Here are a couple of videos I’ve made :

1,000 Nexon Points in JapanMS is the same as 10,000 NX in GMS. The reason it’s ~$13 is because of the Dollar to Yen conversion rate.

13USD converted into Japanese money…That’s why. 13 dollars here is like 1 dollar over there.

    That’s awesome, Justin🙂

My favourite aspect of this rebirth system is the ability to use higher level skills at low levels😛

Seems a bit broken but I can see where they are coming from (why they are doing this).

When you look at other MMOs (or consoles games) some of them have a rebirth system, maybe they want JMS to be in that market too.

Can you rebirth from an nl to a corsair and use shadow partner?
Would combo attack work on a corsair?

        Hero to Corsair
        Hp, stance, combo att,

        or
        Shadower to Corsair
flash jump, shadow partner, mesos guard

    Some Questions
after rebirth are ap points invested in hp/mp that get reset reduce your hp/mp equal to points invested or will there be no penalty for it

probably cant answer this one: what happens to ranking?

you say some passives arent available but what if you rebirth into the same job and branch
do you regain access to those skills?
would they stack if you were to add SP to the skill again?

imo you should be allowed to rebirth back to your original job you should send this suggestion

Neither. Shadower to Hero makes the absolute strongest combo. Of the two, though, Hero to Corsair would give the biggest damage boost.

I have no idea about the HP allocated AP. I wish to try that if Nexon Japan puts a level-up NPC in the test server, but if that doesn’t happen, I won’t bother wasting my time doing that. :X

I have no idea what happens to rankings, since this is only in the test server, so we don’t have rankings.

If you rebirth into the same job, your skills will already be maxed, so you cannot have two of the same skill.

Would combo attack work with a gun equiped?
    What about shadow partner.

Yes, it would work with a gun equiped, but you would have to pistol-whip monsters to charge the Combo. Shadow Partner would also work.

Any info on how Adv Combo interacts with shadow partner? I’m thinking it might make your shadow partner hits 1.3x your normal hits, based on how other skill multipliers work (passive bonus to 2nd/3rd job attacks from bstep; nate’s charge bonus).

There’s no definite proof yet, since no one in the test server can get their hands on Advanced Combo, but speculation with math shows that Advanced Combo’s multiplier would increase the damage from Shadow Partner.

Well I imagine testing with Sader’s Combo Attack would be proof enough. Also I was assuming the damage orbs are multiplicative with each other, but if it’s really just a straight x2 damage multiplier, then your SP attacks should hit the same as your normals at max.
