Game Update v2.02 – MapleStory 8th Anniversary

Join us in celebrating JapanMS’ 8th year anniversary!

Today, Tuesday, August 30th, 2011, marks the beginning of the celebration of the 8th anniversary of the Japanese version of MapleStory. The anniversary events are pretty much the exact same as the Korean version of MapleStory’s 8th anniversary events held earlier this year. However, Nexon Japan seems to have hired someone to redub the song in the video they made in celebration.

They did a pretty good job, I think.

This anniversary event includes the implementation of level 45 and 70 weapons and armors. You can obtain the weapons by picking up MapleStory 8th Anniversary Present Boxes dropped from all kinds of monsters. When you obtain a level 45 Maple equipment, you can use a special anniversary scroll to upgrade that item to a level 70 item at a 40% chance. Never to fear, it will not break your item if it fails, so you can try as many times as you wish to get it to succeed. All level 70 equipment will be unidentified upon obtaining, whether you’ve obtained it by opening the 8th Anniversary Present Box or by upgrading it with the special scroll. To get the armors, you have to either use the present boxes to receive 8th Anniversary Coins or you can trade in Maple Leaves for coins. Everyone 100 Maple Leaves equals one coin. Once you have a good share of Maple Coins, you can trade them in to the shop NPC in the Event Map for Maple equipment, anniversary scrolls, and other goods :

With the MapleStory 8th Anniversary comes the “Rising Star” event. Basically, you choose to become a fan of a certain NPC – either Lilin, Cygnus, or Valerie. Whichever one you choose, you receive quests from Cassandra to boost the popularity of whom you chose. The NPC with the most quest completions throughout the entire server ends up being the winner.

In JapanMS, it’s almost certain that Cygnus is going to win, due to the popularity of the Knights of Cygnus.

So far, Cygnus is in first place, Valerie is in second, and poor Lilin is in last place. :<

While working on the Rising Star events, I leveled up to 174! (:D)┼─┤

Nexon Japan also updated farming by adding the NPCs I talked about in one of my previous posts. The NPCs are 300 FP each and last for 7 days. They collect your ores for you when the veins grow. I bought Hawkeye for my farm and after an hour, my veins grew and I went to check my farm and this is what he collected for me :

I’m so glad they finally implemented these to work. Now I don’t have to go to my farm EVERY HOUR just to get a decent amount of ores. lol

On top of all of this, Nexon Japan has fixed the terrible glitch of Empress Cygnus kicking players out of the map after she’s been defeated. She is now fully killable and the drops are fully obtainable.

Fun stuff. That’s all I really have to say about this anniversary at the moment. Nonetheless, happy birthday, JapanMS!

JapanMS was launched in August/September? I don’t remember it being so soon after KoreaMS’s launch.

So, in JMS, we do not have to exchange old maple leaves to 8th anniversary maple leaves like KMS right?

Sorry for triple post, too much questions.
